Florida Panthers Shut Out Oilers in Game 1 of Stanley Cup Final

Sergei Bobrovsky's 32 Saves Lead the Way

The Florida Panthers got off to a great start in the Stanley Cup Final, shutting out the Edmonton Oilers 3-0 in Game 1 on Saturday night. Sergei Bobrovsky was the star of the show, making 32 saves for his third shutout of the playoffs.

The Panthers opened the scoring in the second period when Aaron Ekblad's shot from the point found its way through traffic and past Oilers goalie Mike Smith. Florida extended its lead in the third period when Evan Rodrigues scored twice in a span of 2:24. Rodrigues' first goal came on a power play, while his second was a shorthanded tally.

The Oilers had a few chances to get on the board, but Bobrovsky was there to make the saves every time. Edmonton's best chance came in the third period when Connor McDavid had a breakaway, but Bobrovsky made a sprawling save to keep the puck out of the net.

With the win, the Panthers take a 1-0 lead in the series. Game 2 is set for Monday night in Edmonton.
