Teenager Elliott Forced to Change Away From Teammates

Villa Hit Five in Youthful Liverpool Rout

Aston Villa thrashed a team of Liverpool youngsters 5-0 in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night, with Harvey Elliott, Liverpool's youngest ever player, forced to change away from his teammates in his first EFL Cup appearance.

Elliott, who made his debut for Liverpool at the age of 16 years and 174 days, was one of several academy players handed a chance to impress by manager Jurgen Klopp.

However, it was Villa who took the lead after just four minutes when Conor Hourihane's free-kick found the back of the net.

Villa doubled their lead through Keinan Davis in the 17th minute, before Anwar El Ghazi made it 3-0 just before half-time.

Davis added his second of the night in the 56th minute, before El Ghazi completed the scoring in the 60th minute.

The victory was Villa's first in the EFL Cup since 2012, and it sets up a fourth-round tie against either Fulham or Sheffield Wednesday.

Conclusion: The match was a reminder of the strength of Villa's academy, and it will be interesting to see how many of the young players involved go on to make an impact in the Premier League.
